Will it work on dorm Wi-Fi?
It needs a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network with a password. Campus networks that need a username or a sign-in web page will not work; a phone hotspot, a personal router or home Wi-Fi does.
Is it a good graduation gift?
Yes. It keeps following the school’s teams after they leave, from anywhere, and there is no subscription.

Can it follow more than one team?
Yes. One Sports Meter follows up to six teams at once, from any mix of sports. They take turns on screen, and a live game takes over until it ends.
Is there a subscription or an app?
No. There is no subscription, no account and no app. It connects to home Wi-Fi and updates itself.
How hard is it to set up?
About a minute. Plug it in, scan the code on its screen with a phone, choose the home Wi-Fi and pick the teams. Teams can be changed later from a phone.
How much does it cost?
$119 to $149, depending on the battery option. It comes with a 3D-printed stand in a choice of colors, a USB-C cable and a quick-start card.
Does it show live scores?
Yes. During a game it shows the score, the clock and the period, usually well under a minute behind the live action. Football adds down and distance; baseball adds the count, outs and runners.
