For a dad who loves sports and already has the hat, the mug and the jersey, a Sports Meter is a gift he will use every day: a small Wi-Fi display for his desk, workbench or nightstand that shows his team’s record, next game and live score. $119 to $149, no subscription.
We build each Sports Meter in Encinitas, California: we assemble it, load it, test it, and print its stand. It follows any team in 16 leagues, so you cannot buy the wrong one.
01
He will not have to learn anything
There is no app and no account. You or he scan a code once, pick the teams, and from then on it just shows them. Updates install themselves.
02
It follows all of his teams
Up to six at once: his pro football team, his college, the baseball team he grew up with. They take turns on screen and a live game takes over.
03
It works where the TV is not
In the garage, the home office or the shop, he can see the score without picking up his phone.
Pick by sport
Every one follows any team in any sport. The pages differ only in the team in the photos, so choose the one that looks most like theirs.

Questions people ask
What do you get a dad who loves sports and has everything?
A Sports Meter: a Wi-Fi desk scoreboard that shows his team’s live score, record and next game all season. Most fans do not own one, it works with any team, and there is no subscription.
Is it a good Father’s Day gift?
Yes. It is in season all year because it follows up to six teams across football, basketball, baseball, hockey and soccer, so there is always a team playing.
Is it easy for an older dad or a grandfather to use?
Yes. After a one-minute setup there is nothing to do. It has three buttons: next team, brightness, and screen on or off.
What if I do not know all the teams he follows?
Buy any one. He picks his own teams at setup and can change them later from a phone.
Which sports and leagues does it cover?
Football, basketball, baseball, hockey and soccer, pro and college: the NFL, NBA, WNBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, NWSL, college football, men’s and women’s college basketball, the Premier League, LaLiga, Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1 and Liga MX. More than 1,700 teams in 16 leagues.
Can it follow more than one team?
Yes. One Sports Meter follows up to six teams at once, from any mix of sports. They take turns on screen, and a live game takes over until it ends.
Is there a subscription or an app?
No. There is no subscription, no account and no app. It connects to home Wi-Fi and updates itself.
How hard is it to set up?
About a minute. Plug it in, scan the code on its screen with a phone, choose the home Wi-Fi and pick the teams. Teams can be changed later from a phone.
How much does it cost?
$119 to $149, depending on the battery option. It comes with a 3D-printed stand in a choice of colors, a USB-C cable and a quick-start card.
Does it show live scores?
Yes. During a game it shows the score, the clock and the period, usually well under a minute behind the live action. Football adds down and distance; baseball adds the count, outs and runners.
